Extreme Manufacturing - Installing/Updating

This page describes methods of installing and updating Extreme Manufacturing. If connected to the internet, the Online version is by far the easiest and the software will check to see if newer versions are available. If not connected to the internet, one of the Offline methods must be used. The "automatic" method uses the Online process to download the UPD files, which are then installed. The "manual" method requires you to download the files via the web browser.

XMwin.upd is updated most often, but periodically others are as well. We do not update this page with update dates or version numbers.


Installing the Software - Online
1) Connect the erasure system to the internet
2) Download setup.exe from the links on the right
3) Run setup.exe
4) Change the Product combo box to Extreme Manufacturing
5) Hit the Install button
6) Insert the USB dongle into the system.

Installing the Software - Offline
1) Download the links on the right to a USB stick or other media
2) Run setup.exe off of the USB stick
3) Change the radio box to Update from Local
4) Change the Product combo box to Extreme Manufacturing
5) Hit the Install button
6) Insert the USB dongle into the system.

Updating the Software - Online
1) Connect the erasure system to the internet
2) Make sure that xmfg_nt.exe is shut down
3) Run setup.exe
4) Hit the Update button

Updating the Software - Offline (automatic)
1) Install the software to a network-connected system
2) Follow the instructions above (Online: 2-4) to update that system
3) Copy all of the update files from {install_dir}/updates to a USB stick
4) Follow the instructions below (Manual: 2-6) to install to the non-networked system

Updating the Software - Offline (manual)
1) Download the links on the right to a USB stick or other media
2) Copy the .upd files from the USB stick to the {install_dir}/updates folder
3) Make sure that xmfg_nt.exe is shut down
4) Run setup.exe
5) Change the radio box to Update from Local
6) Hit the Update button
